Successful firing of ‘Agni 5’ IRBM

Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile ‘Agni 5’ was successfully test fired from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha on 20 August 2025. The launch “validated all operational and technical parameters. It was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command”. 

DRDO successfully conducts maiden flight-tests of Integrated Air Defence Weapon System

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight-tests of Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha at around 1230 hrs on August 23, 2025. IADWS is a multi-layered air defence system comprising all indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missiles (QRSAM), Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW).

User trials of ERASR

User trials of Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR) were successfully carried out from INS Kavaratti in June and July 2025. DRDO’s Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune, in association with High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Naval Science & Technological Laboratory, has designed and developed ERASR for indigenous rocket launcher (IRL) of Indian Naval Ships. A total of 17 ERASRs were successfully test evaluated at different ranges.

DRDO and IAF conduct test of Astra

Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) & Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted the flight-test of indigenous Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile (BVRAAM) ‘Astra’ equipped with indigenous Radio Frequency (RF) Seeker from Su-30MKI platform off the coast of Odisha on 11 July 2025. During the tests, two launches were carried out against high-speed unmanned aerial targets at different ranges, target aspects and launch platform conditions. In both the cases, the missiles destroyed the targets with pin-point accuracy.

Successful test-firing of Prithvi-II & Agni-I

Short-Range Ballistic Missiles - Prithvi-II and Agni-I - were successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha on 17 July 2025. The launches validated all operational and technical parameters. These tests were conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command. 

Successful trials of Akash Prime

India, on 16 July 2025, achieved a significant milestone by successfully destroying two Aerial High Speed Unmanned targets at high-altitude in Ladakh by Akash Prime, the upgraded variant of Akash Weapon System for the Indian Army. The weapon system is customised to operate in altitude above 4,500 metres and has latest upgrades including indigenously developed Radio Frequency seeker.

DRDO conducts two flight-tests of Pralay

Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted two consecutive successful flight-tests of Pralay missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha on 28 and 29 July 2025. The flight tests were carried out as a part of User Evaluation Trials to validate the maximum and minimum range capability of the missile system. The missiles precisely followed the intended trajectory and reached the target point with pin-point accuracy meeting all the test objectives.

DRDO’s ULPGM-V3 tested

DRDO successfully carried out flight trials of UAV Launched Precision Guided Missile ULPGM-V3 in the National Open Area Range (NOAR), test range in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh on 25 July 2025.  “Congratulations to DRDO and the industry partners, DcPPs, MSMEs and Start-ups for the development and successful trials of the ULPGM-V3 system. This success proves that the Indian industry is now ready to absorb and produce critical defence technologies”, stated India’s Defence Minister.
